Statement of Philosophy

Through out my career, I have changed jobs so many times some people may call me a “Jack of all trades and a master of none!”

They would be DEAD wrong and the reason is because I have mastered a number of skills and the first one being how to sell myself!

I unlike some people don’t need a $1500 dollar resume. The fact is once you meet me, as my last Boss said I am a born “Sales Man” I hate to toot my own horn. Really, I do if you got to know me. I am a rather humble man who has made more than his share of mistakes in life!

I once heard the best definition of Character from one of my favorite movies a little known movie with some real top notch acting.

The Big Kahuna
Director: John Swanbeck
Cast: Kevin Spacey, Danny DeVito, Peter Facinelli
(Lions Gate, 2000) Rated: R

Not your typical sales movie. There is no zinger one liner like “Greed is good” which by the way one of my favorite lines was when I worked at the Chicago Board of Trade.

But out of this Movie comes a Definition of Character

(Danny DeVito’s)We were talking before about character we were speaking of faces but the question is much deeper than that

The Question is “Do you have any character at all” and if you want my honest opinion Bob you do not. For the simple reason that you don’t regret anything yet.

(Bob) Are you saying I won’t have any character unless I do something that I regret?

(Danny DeVito’s Answer) “No Bob” I am saying you have already done plenty of thing to regret, you just don’t know what they are.

It’s when you discover them. When you see the folly in something you’ve done. But you wish you had it to do it over, but you know you can’t because it’s too late. So you pick that thing up and carry it with you to remind you, that life goes on. The world will spin without you and that you really don’t matter in the end. Then you have obtained character because honesty will reach out from inside and tattoo itself across your face. Until that day you can not expect to go beyond a certain point.

(Bob) May I go now!

Defined by Google

Character: the inherent complex of attributes that determines a persons moral and ethical actions and reactions

To this point I have a ton of character. I have made a lot of the wrong choices in life and have chosen to learn 80 percent of what I know through experience and not wisdom. At this point in my life I ask more questions than a 7 Year old. Why? Because, I have obtained character, I also would like to learn a lot more via wisdom now.

Professional Skills

I have distinguished myself as a skilled and capable Sales Advertising Professional with talent for Communication, Adaptability/Flexibility, and Imagination. I keep my skill set current by Practical Experience , Formal Education and Acquired Knowledge. I will apply imaginative thinking while staying focused on the work at hand. With a disposition for action, I identify achievable goals and seek opportunities to deliver value by employing:

Communication

(Listening, verbal) By far, the one skill mentioned most often by employers is the ability to listen, write, and speak effectively. Successful communication is critical in business.

My strongest suit is face to face communication. Armed with the knowledge of tangible or intangible products or services, I can best inform potential clients in a one on one situation. Using telephone and e-mail follow-ups ensure that our product or services have been well received.

Adaptability/Flexibility

I maintain an open mind to new ideas and concepts, to working independently or as part of a team, and to carrying out multiple tasks or projects.

Over the years, I have had the opportunity to market many different products and services. With each market comes a new clientele. Offering financial futures is very different from emergency elevator phones or internet ads. I have the ability to go from retail sales to C-level management of Fortune 500 Companies. I have the flexibility to be sensitive to my customers needs in any market
Imagination
The ability to find solutions to problems using your creativity, reasoning, and past experiences along with the available information and resources.
The ability to research a company through listening to how the business is run and knowing what business model they use to monetize it. It is also taking this information and imaginatively elaborating on it to devise a realistic tangible story. Creatively demonstrating how the use of your product or service in the conjunction with their business model will effectively produce a more efficiently profitable environment and expected ROI.

Performance Highlights

Communication

Situation

Communication Product User Documentation—I was assigned the task of communicating effectively to an Elevator company who had been in business for 70 years why it would be in their best interest to allow Kings III of America to have their customer list.

Outcome

I spoke with the original owner’s son and daughter who were watching many other companies smaller than being bought out by the bigger companies over the last 10 years. I explained how this affiliation with an elevator phone company could raise their bottom line and showed that we would do all of the work for them and put this in a contract. I explained the value of our product and that we were in no way an illicit company that would walk away from their customers in some unethical way. After seeing this both in writing and through word of mouth the Joint Venture agreement (that was my original idea) was signed.

Situation

Communication Product User Documentation—I was assigned the task of communicating effectively live on a Pod Cast about WebsiteMagazine.com’s advertising product what is a website magazine in this day and age.

Outcome

Spoke about the ability of a magazine to survive in the website age. Also was asked to give my definition of SEM Search Engine Marketing or what is better known as PPC (PayPerClick ).

Adaptability/Flexibility

Situation

I was not really given this task it was more thrust on me when the leaders of Chicago Elevator Union 2 met me in an ally after several meetings with high level people at different elevator companies. I was able to align Kings III of America with the Local Union after a few short meetings.

Outcome

I was able to align Kings III of America with the Local Union after a few short meetings. We agreed to allow the union employees to sit on a bucket while we did the work. They got to give there union employees a few more hours work and we still ended up able to install all the elevator phones in the Chicago area with out more trouble from the union.

Situation

I was given the task to get more advertisers in the door at website magazine from all the tradeshows we were attending. The only instruction other than that was to write a report at the end of each show.

Outcome

I was able to write the report very positively after a couple of months of tradeshow work. I had built relationships and had sold a number of the advertisers from the show and every quarter was able to double my performance numbers first quarter was $13,000 dollars and the second was $26,000 dollars $47,000 $65,000 the last full quarter I was at $80,000 dollars in ad revenue. I was training my new boss for the last quarter before I left. Set record sales at trade shows by signing up most advertisers in company history during 12 trade shows.

Situation

I was not told there was no accounting software in place when I started with the company.

Outcome

Up until the time that I came to this company, accounting software wasn’t a necessity. I brought in enough revenue that they now needed it, and were also able to afford it.

Imagination

Situation

The best example of imagination I can recall from my career has been in the past few years when I originally started with a just a couple of business idea’s.

Outcome

that have since become viable working business models and intertwine a few of the smaller companies I had worked to get started.  I keep moving forward with sales and production of my company’s ad sales and resumes for people out of work in this terrible economy. My absolute favorite is the title I came up with for myself in my business (Chief Imagination Officer)
